On October 8, 2023, Armenians in Vienna, Austria, took to the streets to protest the ongoing violence and oppression in Artsakh, and to demand freedom and international recognition for the disputed territory. The protest was organized by the Armenian Student Association of Austria and was attended by hundreds of people, including Armenians from all over Austria, as well as friends and allies from other countries.
The protest began at 1:30 PM at the Armenian Square in Vienna. Protesters marched through the city center, chanting slogans such as
“FREE ARTSAKH!”
“ARTSAKH IS ARMENIA!”
“SANCTION AZERBAIJAN”
The protest was a peaceful and orderly event. There were no reports of violence or arrests. The protesters were united in their call for an end to the violence in Artsakh and for the international community to recognize Artsakh’s independence.
